Classification of Sources of Energy

Classification Of Sources Of Energy:  We can classify energy sources in different way.

A. Based on the long term availabilty energy  can be divided in to two :

1. Renewable energy: These are those which can be renewed naturally over time. These are inexhaustable.For eg: wind energy, solar energy, geothermal, biomass, hydropower, tidal energy etc.

2. Non renewable energy: These are those sources of energy which are available in limited quantity. These sources cannot be renewed in short duration. For eg: coal, petroleum, natural gas, nuclear power etc.

B. Based on the traditional use energy source  can be classified as :

1. Conventional source of energy: These are those sources of energy which we have been using from a long time. For eg: fossil fuel, thermal energy, hydropower energy etc.

2. Non- conventional source of energy: These are those sources of energy which are newly discovered or which have just strated using .For eg:

solar energy, tidal energy, wave energy, geothermal energy, nuclear energy etc.
